ASBURY PARK, NJ - It was the 49th annual Asbury Park Polar Bear Races presented on Sunday, December 30th, that was the final event of 2012 for the running/racewalking community and included a 10-mile racewalk and five-mile healthwalk that began at 10 a.m. and finalized by a five-kilometer run at 1 p.m. This popular event was staged by the Shore Athletic Club in cooperation with the city of Asbury Park and McLoone's Restaurants.    

Below is a list of names from the 5K Run: (a 4-loop course to make up the 3.1 miles on the non-severely-damaged, from the Sandy Hurricane part of the boardwalk, north of Convention Hall). Andrew Brodeur, 22, of Brick at 16:47 (16 minutes and 47 seconds) and Nicole Corre, 31, of Red Bank at 22:13 (21st place overall) were the male/female champions of the 205 competitors. Elite Racing Systems did the computer results.
