Thousands of Dollars for Cultural Projects Awarded PDF Print E-mail

TRENTON, NJ - The New Jersey Council for the Humanities Board of Trustees recently awarded $74,333 in grants in support of public humanities projects to eleven nonprofit organizations in six different counties around the state.  A complete list of funded projects follows.

  • Renaissance Newark Foundation, Inc., “The Rule Documentary Film” ($16,000)
  • Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House, “America’s First Military Academy: General Henry Knox at Pluckemin, New Jersey” ($10,000)
  • Ironbound Community Corporation, “Digital Environmental Justice & Resource Archive” ($10,000)
  • The College of New Jersey, Center for Global Engagement, “Envisioning Europe: Tyranny and Freedom in History, Literature, and Film” ($10,000)
  • Rutgers University Libraries, Special Collections and University Archives, “Struggle Without End: New Jersey and the Civil War” ($7,383)
  • Camden County College, Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility, “American Civil War: Pols and Generals” ($5,000)
  • Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, “Child Indentures as Social Welfare Exhibit” ($5,000)
  • Agraj Seva Kendra, “Cultivating Social Change through Art and Media” ($3,000)
  • Passage Theatre Company, “Oral History - Race and Identity in Trenton” ($3,000)
  • Drew University, Center for Holocaust/Genocide Study, “The Holocaust in Poland: A Terrible Yet Extraordinary History” ($2,950)
  • The Alliance for Morris County Parks, “Lenni Lenape Day” ($2,000)

The New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) is a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.  Its mission is to serve the people of New Jersey by developing, supporting and promoting projects that explore and interpret the human experience, foster cross-cultural understanding and engage people in a dialogue about matters of individual choice and public responsibility.
