Fair Haven, NJ - Children in first, second and third grades from across Monmouth County and surrounding areas are invited to write or record a 60-second song about their adopted dog or cat and submit it to the Monmouth County SPCA “Tunes for Tails” Contest sponsored by Purr'n Pooch Pet Resorts. Three winning songs will be chosen and the winning songwriters will then work together at the Emmy Nominated Small Factory Production studio in Fair Haven to create a 30-second radio jingle to be used by the Monmouth County SPCA to help increase adoption awareness.
The winning song will debut on 94.3 The POINT's Lou and Liz Show during the Monmouth County SPCA Adoptable Pet Segment on Thursday, November 17th during the 8 o'clock hour (a.m.). Additional prizes for all three winners include: two 2-hour recording sessions with Small Factory Productions, jingle played on the radio, jingle posted on Monmouth County SPCA and Small Factory websites, and a day of play and spa treatments at the Purr'n Pooch Pet Resort for the winners' pets.
Why a contest? The goal of the song contest is to have the kids write about the important lessons they learned from adopting their pet. By opting to adopt, children are taught personal responsibility, community service, volunteerism and that their actions can make a difference in the world by saving a life. The Monmouth County SPCA is one of 50 organizations across the country participating in the ASPCA $100,000 Challenge. The organization that saves the most lives over a three-month period will earn a $100,000 grant from the ASPCA. This nationally held competition runs from August through October and currently the Monmouth County SPCA sits at 302 adoptions and counting. This number already exceeds last year’s adoption numbers.
"We are excited to work with children from across Monmouth County, Small Factory Productions and Purr n' Pooch during the "Tunes for Tails" Contest. Children benefit on so many levels from the unconditional love a pet provides, and in our opinion, since an adopted pet has been given a second chance at love they give the most love of all." said, Laurie Garrison, Executive Director Monmouth County SPCA. "Being able to provide that second chance to a pet can be one of the most rewarding and affirming experiences. We can't wait to see (hear) what the kids come up with!"
