MIDDLETOWN, NJ - On August 2, 2012 at approximately 1:47pm the Middletown Police Department responded to Ideal Beach in reference to a report of a possible drowning. Upon arrival Lieutenant William Brunt and Corporal Robert McNair located the victim, Charles Henshaw, age 46, from Belford, NJ, in the water. The officers pulled him to shore.

Henshaw was treated by the Monoc Paramedics and the Port Monmouth First Aid Squad and was transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ.  He was pronounced dead at 2:45pm at Riverview Medical Center as a result of the drowning.
