ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - The following police report is from the Atlantic Highlands Police Department. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Atlantic Highlands Police Chief Jerry Vasto reports the following activity:

•On January 9, 2012 at 2:50 P.M., Patrolman Stephen Vogt charged Gabriel A. Segura, age 50, Red Bank, with harassment and defiant trespassing after an 86 year old Ocean Boulevard resident reported he was trying to obtain money from her for a rental car. Both had been involved in an accident a few days prior to this incident and Segura believed he was entitled to a rental car.

•On January 9, 2012 at 7:23 P.M., a Bay Avenue resident reported two suspicious male subjects were walking door to door selling siding. Patrolman Adam Gurian responded and was able to locate the subjects. The subjects were checked for warrants and sent on their way after being advised that they needed a permit to solicit.

•On January 9, 2012 at 9:46 P.M., a resident of King James Lane reported a suspicious person standing near the laundry room. Patrolman Adam Gurian responded and spoke with the caller who advised a male subject wearing dark clothing had been hanging near the laundry room, smoking a cigarette. The subject left the area after coming into contact with the resident and was last observed walking on Highway # 36 towards the A&P. Patrolman Gurian checked the area and was unable to locate the subject.

•On January 10, 2012 at 11:15 P.M., Patrolman Adam Gurian arrested Kevin Obrien, age 56, Middletown, for driving while intoxicated after he was stopped for failing to maintain lane on West Avenue.

•On January 15, 2012 at 8:30 P.M., Patrolmen Adam Gurian and Jonathan Elmer responded to a reported assault which took place in the Municipal Harbor. As a result of the officers’ investigation, Eric C. Kennedy, age 39, Eatontown, and Michael Wheeler, age 50, Long Branch, were arrested and charged with simple assault.

•On January 18, 2012, a resident of Asbury Avenue reported that somebody had smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and removed a bag containing approximately $ 600.00 in cash and various assorted items. The incident happened sometime overnight. Patrolman Adam Gurian took the report.

•On January 21, 2012 at 12:44 P.M., Patrolman Scott Reinert stopped Kathy Kirwin, age 49, Matawan, for speeding on First Avenue. As a result of the stop, Kirwin was arrested on warrants issued by the Red Bank and Eatontown municipal courts. Kirwin posted the required bail and was released.

•On January 24, 2012 at 4:09 A.M., patrols were dispatched to an Avenue B home after the resident reported that he was assaulted by his girlfriend. Upon arrival, officers’ spoke with the 35 year old victim who advised he had been punched and bitten by his girlfriend. As a result of the officers’ investigation, the 34 year old girlfriend was arrested and charged with simple assault. Patrolman Jonathan Elmer was the arresting officer. He was assisted by Sergeant Alfred Conover and Patrolman Stephen Vogt.

•On January 24, 2012 at 1:46 P.M., an Ocean Boulevard resident reported that unknown person(s) had broken two ground level windows on his home. Investigation by Detective Sergeant Thomas Stone revealed the windows had been broken by rocks which may have been launched by a sling shot type device. The incident happened sometime overnight.

•On January 26, 2012 at 3:28 P.M., Patrolman Scott Reinert stopped a Jeep operated by Alexander Mutz, age 19, Middletown, after he detected a strong smell of burned marijuana as the vehicle passed him on West Highland Avenue. Investigation by Reinert led to the arrest of Mutz who was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 17 year old male passenger from Highlands was additionally arrested and charged with hindering his own apprehension after he provided Reinert with a false name.

•On January 26, 2012 a resident of Grand Avenue reported that unknown person(s) had damaged his vehicle by slashing two tires. The incident happened sometime overnight on the 24th into the 25th. Patrolman Scott Reinert took the report.

•On January 28, 2012 at 1:06 A.M., Patrolman Stephen Vogt arrested Alicia McDonald, age 42, Leonardo, for driving while intoxicated after he observed her operating in a reckless manner on First Avenue. McDonald was also charged with refusal to take breath tests.

•On January 29, 2012 at 9:51 P.M., Patrolman Jonathan Elmer conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle which had a loud exhaust. As a result of the stop, Nancy P. Foley – Wadinton, age 24, Keansburg, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Middletown Township Municipal Court. Also arrested, was April Cain age 26, Atlantic Highlands, on a warrant issued by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department. Neither subject could post the required bail and they were turned over to the Middletown Township Police Department and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department respectively.

•On January 30, 2012 at 5:19 P.M., Patrolman Scott Reinert conducted a random license plate check on a Dodge van which revealed the owner’s license was suspended and that there was a warrant for his arrest. Reinert stopped the van and came into contact with the vehicle owner, Michael B. Stiles, age 48, Highlands. Stiles was arrested on the warrant and was additionally charged with driving while suspended and driving with no insurance. Stiles was able to post the required bail and was released.

•On January 30, 2012, Detective Sergeant Thomas Stone charged a 35 year old Atlantic Highlands male with stalking and harassment after investigation revealed he sent an ex girlfriend 194 text messages and engaged in inappropriate behavior towards her. The subject was processed and released after being served with a temporary restraining order prohibiting him with having any contact with the victim.
