Morgan, 27, with a last known address in Eatontown, New Jersey, was charged with Murder on November 23 and an arrest warrant issued.  Since that date, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of numerous federal, state, county and municipal law enforcement authorities, commenced a nationwide manhunt in an effort to locate Morgan.  Authorities will seek to have Morgan transferred to New Jersey to face this charge, as well as Ocean County charges filed against Morgan on November 22 for second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child and third degree Interference with Custody.  For more information concerning these investigations, please see the following link: http://www.prosecutor.co.monmouth.nj.us/press/2011/112311b.pdf.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.  Prosecutor Warshaw thanked the U.S. Marshal’s Service, who made the apprehension; the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Wall, Ocean, Neptune and Lakehurst Police Departments; the New Jersey State Police; the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office; the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police; the New Jersey Transit Police; the Amtrak Police; and California law enforcement authorities for their assistance in locating and apprehending Morgan.
