MONMOUTH COUNTY CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION ATTAINS 100% COMPLIANCE ON RECENT STATE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS INSPECTION

Dual national accreditations also commended by State Department of Corrections

FREEHOLD, NJ Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph W. Oxley is pleased to announce that the New Jersey State Department of Corrections found the Monmouth County Jail in 100% compliance with New Jersey Administrative Code 10A:31 during an inspection of the facility on September 22 and 23 conducted by inspectors from the State Department of Corrections Office of County Services.

“I am proud of the dedicated efforts of the 400 correctional professionals in the Corrections Division of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office who made this accomplishment possible,” said Sheriff Oxley. “Their commitment to excellence is reflected in this assignment.”

In addition to the excellent inspection report, Joseph W. Hartman, Coordinator of the Office of County Services, Division of Programs and Community Services, commended Sheriff Oxley attaining two national accreditations. In his letter of October 26, Mr. Hartman stated,

“Additionally, please accept our sincere congratulations on receiving and maintaining accreditation by the American Correctional Association and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. As you are aware, accreditation by both these well-known and well-respected agencies results in standardized policy, procedures, and operations as well as a staff that is professional and well trained. It also provides for a safer environment for both staff and those offenders under your care.”

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) is among the top ten largest county correctional institutions in the country housing up to 1,328 inmates. It is a state of the art, direct supervision facility located on 11 acres of property in Freehold Township and encompassing the square footage of about seven football fields.

“National accreditation enables the Sheriff’s Office and the County of Monmouth to benefit from reduced liability insurance costs, increased protection from litigation, improved professionalism and morale as well as increased safety for staff and offenders,” said Sheriff Oxley. “The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office is the first and only Sheriff’s Office in the national to be nationally accredited in all areas of operation which include Corrections, Corrections Health Care, Law Enforcement, Communications and Youth Detention.
