LOVE A PARADE? HIGHLANDS WANTS YOU FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Web Hosting - $300/yr.

HIGHLANDS, NJ —  The Irish are coming to Bay Avenue to march in the town’s first annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, but you don’t have to be Irish to join them.

The Highlands Business Partnership, which is hosting the parade, is seeking additional participants to join the 30-plus members of Pipes and Drums of the Jersey Shore Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh and the 20 members of Castle Dangerous, featuring Highland bagpipes, who will be performing in the parade.

“We want to hear from school bands, marching units, drummers, mummers, bagpipes and brass – you name it,” said the HBP’s Manager Nick Evangelista. “We’re still in the planning stages,” Evangelista said, “and we welcome decorated floats from groups and civic organizations in the area, and we’re also inviting veterans groups who want to march to contact us.”

The Partnership is working with Jennifer Bent, events manager at Allen Consulting in Holmdel, NJ, to plan the parade and line up marching units.

Groups or individuals interested in participating or volunteering during the parade may contact Bent at 732-946-2711 or by e-mail at events@allenconsulting.com for additional information.
