Clearwater Festival Moves to Long Branch September 15

LONG BRANCH, NJ - New Jersey Friends of Clearwater (NJFC) and The City of Long Branch today announced that the state's oldest and largest celebration of the environment—the NJFC Clearwater Festival—is coming to the oceanfront Great Lawn in Long Branch September 15.  An annual tradition since 1975, the free Clearwater Festival is known for its mix of live music and song, arts and environmental education and advocacy in a family-friendly summer party.

"We are pleased to welcome the Clearwater Festival to Long Branch," said Mayor Adam Schneider. "Our Great Lawn, right on the boardwalk north of Pier Village, is the perfect spot for NJFC’s message of respect for natural resources."

State and Federal Officials to be on hand to assist local residents and discuss recovery and rebuilding efforts

Trenton, NJ – The Christie Administration will hold Mobile Cabinet office hours in Aberdeen on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Aberdeen Town Hall (1 Aberdeen Square, Aberdeen, NJ 07747) from 9am – 5pm. Representatives from state and federal agencies, including the Governor’s Office of Constituent Relations, the Department of Banking and Insurance, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Community Affairs, the Business Action Center, FEMA and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), will be on hand to assist residents and discuss ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts. Residents seeking assistance can expedite the process by bringing relevant documentation related to the issue they are facing. For example, individuals with insurance issues should bring their policies and any claims information, documentation and relevant correspondence they have.

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Simple Gifts, an evening of folk music by two women playing twelve instruments, will be in concert on Friday, June 7, at the Atlantic Highlands Elementary School (AHES) at 7:00pm.  Following the concert will be a jam session.  The concert, cosponsored by the AHES PTO and the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, will be assisting the sixth grade class in their fund raising efforts for their promotion at the end of the year with their bake sale and a ticket selling contest. 

Simple Gifts will share their music with the students earlier in the day at a school assembly.  They performed at the school five years ago and the students had a great time learning to play spoons.  The children will have an opportunity to interact with the two musicians, Linda Littleton and Karen Hirshon.

HOWELL, NJ – The Monmouth County Fire Academy graduated 56 firefighters from the Firefighter I program this week. Graduates were divided into two classes: Class 98 graduated May 21 and Class 99 graduated May 22. Both ceremonies were held at the Fire Academy on Route 33.
