Adopt a Seal from MMSC this Valentine's Day for friends, family or teachers!

This year, why not give a gift that gives back?  You can remember a friend or loved one in a very special way and save a seal at the same time.

It's easy.  When you give a donation of $25 to MMSC's Valentine Seal Adoption, we will send your named recipient a special Valentine's Day card announcing the seal adoption.  Once the seal has been rehabilitated and released, we will send a beautiful seal adoption certificate, a photograph of the seal and the background information on the stranding and recovery of the seal.

Visitors are welcome to adopt a seal at the MMSC Museum and Gift Shop Saturdays from 10am - 2pm.

On Saturday, February 11, join us for a FREE craft for kids! Stop by between 10am - 2pm and children can make their own Valentine Seal Mask and learn about all the marine mammals that call NJ home.

Celebrate this Valentine's Day by making a donation in honor of friends, family, colleagues or teachers, for the many sick and injured seals cared for by MMSC all year long.

To donate, please visit

www.mmsc.org/seal-adoption!

Every seal deserves a little love this Valentine's Day. Thanks for sharing yours.

FARMINGDALE, NJ - United Way of Monmouth County will once again sponsor free tax returns through the IRS VITA (Volunteers in Tax Assistance) and AARP Tax-Aide program for the 2012 season.  Qualifying residents are able to have their federal and NJ state tax returns prepared at no cost by IRS certified volunteer preparers from the Monmouth University Leon Hess School of Business, community groups, and the AARP Tax Aide Program.

VITA and Tax Aide volunteers are trained to complete most returns at easy-to- access locations in Monmouth County including SCAN Learning center at Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.  Last year, volunteers prepared over 100 returns, which resulted in approximately $125,000 of tax refunds for Monmouth County residents. In addition to preparing free returns, the objective of the VITA program is to maximize the Earned Income Tax Credit clients receive.  Generally, one in four working individuals or families who qualify for this credit fails to claim it, missing an opportunity to receive as much as $5,751 in refunds.
