SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS FOR HENRY HUDSON REGIONAL SCHOOL

School board elections are just around the corner!

Before we know it April 18, 2006 will be here and although all the candidates are running uncontested this year for their seats I just want to stress the importance of voting in this election. Your vote counts. By voting you are showing support for our board members and budget. Voting is the best way that you the resident can support your local school district.

Three residents will run uncontested for three open seats at Henry Hudson Regional and they are:

Loretta Gluckstein, 42, of 60 Ocean Blvd. will run unopposed for a three-year Atlantic Highlands Loretta is a newcomer to the school board. While incumbent Joan M. Wicklund, 67, of 82 Valley Ave., and Rebecca Kane, 29, of 5 Central Ave., will seek the two three-year Highlands seats.

Unfortunately we will be loosing Mrs. Connie Monetta, who has decided to not seek reelection after serving for sixteen years at Henry Hudson. Connie truly cared for the children of the district, loved the school and wanted to see it prosper. She was instrumental in so many departments within the board to make the school the great place that it is today. I am honored that I was able to serve with her, even if it was for only a short period of time. Connie will be sadly missed at Henry Hudson; however I do have a feeling that she will always be involved.

At the Highlands Elementary School two incumbents will run unopposed for three-year terms and they are:

Irene Campbell, 50, of 3 Barberie Ave. and Nancy Messina, 48, of 23 North St.

Rebecca Kane is a former councilwoman for the Borough of Highlands. '03-'06 and a current member of the Henry Hudson Regional School Board of Education
