The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s popular Next Stage Ensemble returns for a third season of “Shakespeare at the Shore” with a free performance of Richard II at Middletown Main Library on Wednesday, July 23rd at 7:00 p.m.

ImageThis poignant and poetic play resonates especially in this political year.  Containing some of Shakespeare’s most impassioned descriptions of his homeland (“this earth, this realm, this England”), Richard II is also a deeply relevant tale of one man’s inner struggle between his essential humanity and the absolute power of his office.

Free tickets will be available at the library beginning July 1.

The library is located at 55 New Monmouth Road in Middletown and is easily reached from Highway 35 or from the Cherry Tree Farm Road/Tindall Road intersection.
