Mother's Day Gift of Song

Mother's Day is almost  here.  Celebrate you and the women you love, mothers, daughters and friends, by enjoying a night of singing with the Heart of New Jersey Chorus.  We are a group of friendly, fun loving women  ages 14-80+ who hail from Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex, and Ocean Counties.  We are a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a non-profit organization that provides entertainment to the community by singing at nursing homes, hospitals, community events and our annual show. We are supported in part by the Monmouth County Arts Council.

We love to sing and enjoy sharing our passion with audiences. We rehearse at the Frank Defino Central Elementary School RT. 79 Marlboro on Wednesday evenings  from 7:30 to 10 PM.  For further information and our summer location contact Audra at 732 239 5052 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

102nd Cavalry, Troop B, Red Bank NJ, 1895-1941
Written by Paul Sniffen

RED BANK, NJ - The armory on Chestnut Street in Red Bank was built in 1896. The land cost $6000 and the building $15,000. The 112th Light Artillery and 102nd CAV Troop B boarded 60 horses at the Red bank armory from the 1890s until WWII.  The armory had a dirt floor at that time and many polo matches, horse shows and rodeos were held there. In the 1930s a stable master was kicked and killed by one of the horses. Every trooper had a mount and every horse had a name. Ray Sniffen’s horse was named Bingo. When the weather was mild they would ride the horses to Swimming River by Newman Springs Road where the horses could be bathed. On weekends they would ride the horses to Sea Girt and back along with their supply wagons and light artillery. They slept in tents at Sea Girt and used the firing range along the ocean.
