Memorial Day 2008 - What to do after the Parade?

Monmouth Lodge Open House Immediately after the Atlantic Highlands Memorial Day Parade-May 26th, Monmouth Lodge No. 172, F. &A.M. located at 14 East Garfield Avenue will host its sixth annual open house.  The public is cordially invited and free Hershey chocolate bars will be served while supplies last. Our annual display of military uniforms and artifacts, historical pictures and Masonic memorabilia changes each year.  This year the display will include American folk art items. The Open House is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Stop by for a chance to win a rare Benjamin Franklin copper token.

Arrest in Middletown Copper Thefts

The Middletown Township Police Department has arrested three men and charged them with the theft of copper tubing from residences under construction as well as two professional office buildings.

Detective Kimberly Best lead a three month investigation into the theft of copper tubing that started in February. Two homes in the area of East End Avenue in the Belford section of the Township were burglarized twice between February 20th and March 13th and copper tubing both prior to installation and after installation were taken from the homes. Another report was filed on February 20, 2008 after a professional building on Highway 35 was burglarized and the copper tubing attached to the air conditioning unit was taken.

AAA Survey Finds New Jersey To Be 10th Most Expensive Vacation Spot

HAMILTON, NJ – At $281 per day, New Jersey ranks as the 10th most expensive vacation destination in the country, according to AAA’s Annual Vacation Cost Survey, which is based on costs for two adults.

The 2008 national average is $244 per day, according to the survey, which calculates costs based on per-night lodging and three daily meals.

MONMOUTH BEACH, NJ - The Monmouth Beach Parent Teachers Association, in conjunction with the Jersey Shore Running Club (JSRC), presented its 14th annual 3-Mile Run at 9 a.m. on an overcast, mild, good-running-weather morning of May 10 and 253 road racers completed the loop course that started and finished at Griffin Street Memorial Park.
