Memorial Day 2008 - What to do after the Parade?

Monmouth Lodge Open House Immediately after the Atlantic Highlands Memorial Day Parade-May 26th, Monmouth Lodge No. 172, F. &A.M. located at 14 East Garfield Avenue will host its sixth annual open house.  The public is cordially invited and free Hershey chocolate bars will be served while supplies last. Our annual display of military uniforms and artifacts, historical pictures and Masonic memorabilia changes each year.  This year the display will include American folk art items. The Open House is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Stop by for a chance to win a rare Benjamin Franklin copper token.

Panelists with expertise in guidance, law, and psychology will discuss ways for parents to survive the most challenging times of their parenting-the teenage years.

Park System Horse Takes New Position with Asbury Park Police

LINCROFT, NJ —This past March, after a 30-day trial period, “Teddy Bear” the horse received an official green light to join the Asbury Park Police Department’s new Mounted Unit.  Originally donated to the Park System’s Therapeutic Riding program at Sunnyside Recreation Center, the 20-year old Thoroughbred was transferred to this new position after proving to be an ideal partner for both the officers and the other horse in the program.

DOT Employee Charged with Falsifying Signature on Rt 36 Bridge Project

FREEHOLD, NJ - On April 1, 2008, detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey Department of Transportation Internal Affairs Bureau charged James J. Duffy, 56, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, with Falsifying or Tampering with Records, a fourth degree crime.  Duffy was released on a summons issued by Superior Court Judge Bette E. Uhrmacher.

 

Duffy, a 22-year State of New Jersey Department of Transportation employee, worked as a Principal Right of Way negotiator for the New Jersey Department of Transportation.  Among the projects he was assigned to was the Route 36 Highlands to Sea Bright bridge construction site.  Duffy was one of the D.O.T. liaisons working with the Borough of Highlands on the transfer of property pertinent to the bridge construction project.
