Middletown Bicycle Rodeo May 17 at Swim Club

Middletown’s Bicycle Rodeo for students in grades K-5 will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middletown Swim Club, 214 Harmony Road. This free event features an obstacle course, bicycle inspections, McGruff and Darren the DARE Lion, an art contest, and free raffles for bicycles and helmets. Parents are invited to bring their bikes and join their 4th and 5th graders on the bikeway. Rain Date is May 18.

Tyler Maxson, of Boy Scout Troop 122, is organizing the event for his Eagle Scout Project. The project is sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 122, Middletown Police Explorers, Middletown Police, and Parks and Recreation departments, Middletown Arts Center, Tom’s Atlantic Cyclery and Middletown PTAs.

Brick Man Indicted for Carjacking from 78-Year Old Woman

FREEHOLD, NJ - On May 1, 2008, a Monmouth County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Michael Hodnovich, 29, of Brick Township, N.J., with first degree Carjacking, first degree Armed Robbery, third degree Theft, fourth degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and third degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

At approximately 11:20 on the morning of February 28, 2008, officers from the Neptune Township police department responded to the Walgreen's Pharmacy located on Route 33 in Neptune Township following a report of the theft of a car.  Their investigation revealed that the victim, a 78 year old woman from Monmouth County, had parked her car in the pharmacy parking lot and was preparing to go into the store.  As she did so, she was accosted by a man, subsequently identified as Michael Hodnovich, who threatened her with a hypodermic needle.  Hodnovich forcibly removed the keys from the woman's hands, entered her car and drove away.

Middletown Traffic Advisory

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - This is an advisory from the Middletown Police Department.  Dwight Road and Red Hill Road East of Van Schoick Road will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday May 5, 2008 for approximately 6 weeks, 24 hours a day.

Please follow detour.  During this same 6 week period, Middletown-Lincroft Road will be closed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.  Please follow detour or use alternate route if possible.

ABERDEEN— The walled city of Jerusalem rose from the floor of Temple Shalom’s Social Hall recently during a special Religious School event that brought a whole new meaning to hands-on learning.
