Chief Joseph R. Blewett of the Borough of
Highlands Police Department and the Highlands Neighborhood Watch, invite and
encourage men and women of the community to take a stand against domestic
violence by joining them for a highly informative presentation at the next
meeting of the Highlands Neighborhood Watch on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at
7:30 pm at the Robert D. Wilson Memorial Community Center, Snug Harbor Avenue,
Highlands.
The Highlands Police Department partnered
with 180 Turning Lives Around to formulate the Domestic Violence Response Team
in June 2006. Since the inception of the Domestic Violence Response Team the
Highlands Police Department has seen a decrease of domestic violence calls of
approximately thirteen (13) percent over the last year. This decrease can be at
least partly attributed to the commitment and dedication of the volunteer
advocates to the Domestic Violence Response Team.
Sue Levine, Domestic Violence Response Team
Program Coordinator for 180 Turning Lives Around, a non-profit organization
dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault, will serve as guest
speaker. Ms. Levine will discuss the prevalence of domestic violence in the
community and what you can do to get involved to help stop the cycle of abuse.

Lt. William Armenti, Borough of Highlands Police Department, (732) 872-1158.
