ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - On Saturday, February 23, the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council will host a reception and art show to celebrate the life and art of Elenore Huson. The event will be held in Atlantic Highlands at Julia’s Restaurant, 91 First Avenue, from 1 to 4 p.m.  Music will be  provided by musicians from the Arts Council. This event is open to the public and contributions will be accepted to benefit the Elly Huson Art Corner at the Atlantic Highlands Public Library.

At 104 years old, Elly Huson is well known locally as the “most senior” of Atlantic Highlands’ senior citizens, but many residents are unaware of the extent of Elly Huson’s eclectic body of work. That’s what  prompted Janice Kollar, president of the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council,  to organize the tribute and showcase Huson’s  works so that the community could celebrate her many talents.

Huson’s specialty was portraits. Her body of work also includes sculpture and marionettes as well as the pen and ink drawings for the annual Christmas cards sold by the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society. For more than 30 years she was the editor of the Garden Club of New Jersey’s bi-monthly magazine ”NewsLeaf”. She also designed numerous covers for that publication.

Donations to support this event and the Elly Huson Art Corner can be mailed to :
