I knew nothing about the new release at Clearview/Red Bank called "Kids Are All Right" but obviously the masses did as I went 3 times on Saturday to see this flick and each time it was sold out.
Finally got in at the 9:30 pm show.
Advertised as a drama/comedy, clearly this film had a fabulous cast with Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo & Julianne Moore.
Pretty basic story of 2 married "Mom's and their near adult kids. The kids track down their sperm donating father and start a relationship with him. Plus he starts relationships with the whole family.
Adult themes and good, hard, real angst of family issues and pain throughout all the various relationships. Excellent script with fabulous acting. No doubt, lots of uncomfortable scenes and clearly no Hollywood ending. Very interesting camera angles to see the highs and the lows. I thought the conversations between the 2 Moms were the most insightful. Almost every conversation had a smile and tender moment along with a raised tense issue/comment.
Would be a hard movie to recommend unless one really loves a pretty uncomfortable film with great actors.
