On Election night, I had to escape the TV screen for the big screen. So, I zipped off to Asbury Park for killer Korean Fusion Tacos at MOGO and then over to the 12 seat Showroom Theatre for the documentary "Harry and Snowman"
This is an outstanding 84 minute documentary of the Dutch immigrant Harry deLeyer. He comes to the US at a young age, marries and becomes a riding teacher at a prestigious all girls boarding school in Long Island.
On a horse buying trip to PA, at the last minute, he stumbles upon horse "Snowman" who is minutes away from the glue factory.
The horses' extreme gentle nature makes him an outstanding teaching horse. Harry and Snowman have a very very special bond and in short the former uncovers that the latter is a terrific jumper.
In just a few years, Snowman & blue collar Harry win the triple crown and the national champion. In addition, Snowman sets the world record for clearing the height of over 7'0 on a jump at like age 11 or 12 which is crazy!!!
The quality of both the B/W and color video and still photos from the 50's and 60's is incredible.
Folks, "Harry & Snowman" is a top shelf, G Rated film. MORE IMPORTANTLY, it will be at the Showroom for only 1 MORE DAY (Thursday, Nov. 9th). Turn off the TV, bag Thursday night football and trek on out to AP. Only 12 seats in this very comfortable theatre. Check out this very special film tonight at the Showroom or put on your Netflix.
