The movies in this late fall have been atrocious (by that I mean the last 2/3 weeks).
Thank goodness for local movie maven Joan Ellis (www.joanellis.com) who gave me the heads up that just released in selected markets "Margin Call", starring Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Paul Bettany, Demi Moore, Stanley Tucci & more was available amazingly "on Demand".
I didn't know some movies are available "on demand" the same day in theatres - great idea for folks that can't get out. But was surprised that the price was only $ 6.99 while some of new foreign films were $9.99 or more. That made me a little nervous about "Margin Call".
I've mentioned many times before that I don't watch DVD's or Movies on TV as I'm bored by the small screen & distracted by things about the house. As a result, I fall asleep.
I was totally psyched for this flick and was really disappointed. Very slow, shows all the backchannel angst of pretty darn rich traders, managers, directors in the corporate field.
Just didn't hold my interest and didn't work for me on any level, but I'm convinced it is because of the small screen. The actors, the scripts, the themes simply can't reel me when I'm fighting to keep my eyes open.
Don't go by this review. This cast is too good.
