anne mikolay 2012 120Whoever said the predicted “super storm” allegedly coming our way this week was nothing more than a “great, white hype” should certainly rethink his/her position. At this point, it matters little to me if twenty inches of snow falls all at once or in five inch increments over the course of several days (and several storms). This has been a severe winter, indeed, and as I look out my window at the white blanket yet again covering my property, I am a bit disgusted. I have already shoveled three times today in the naive hope of staying one step ahead of the accumulation. To cheer myself as heavy snowflakes caked my hat and scarf - and the snow plow buried part of my driveway after I had cleared it – I composed a timely Christmas carol of sorts. I call it “It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas – in February.” Enjoy!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Everywhere you go!

Take a look in the parking lot

Glistening once again

With sand and salt and plows ready to go.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Everywhere you go!

Mother Nature dropped a load

Right on New Monmouth Road.

It's pretty now but soon it won't be so!

A pair of nice, warm boots and a snow blower that shoots
the snow up high in the air,
Kids that don't back-talk and shovel the walk
Is the hope of hubby and me,
And moms and dads can hardly wait
For school to start again!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Everywhere you go!

New Jersey's all in white.

Good Lord! It snowed again last night!

The heavy stuff is waiting for the plow!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

There are shovels in every store,

But a prettier sight to see,

would oh! So truly be

Spring outside my door!
