Dogpawfile.com made its internet debut on February 19, 2009. Though Dogpawfile presents itself as an on-line community “where dogs do the talking,” members know the truth. Contrary to its slogan, Dogpawfile isn't for dogs; it's a social networking site where canine lovers “meet” one another, share news and photos about their pets, and create lasting friendships. Though cute photographs and brief narratives posted to the site via the “pawfile” draw attention to dogs of all sizes and all breeds, it is the owners that benefit. Dogpawfile members genuinely care about one another and have emerged a family.
On the occasion of Dogpawfile's first anniversary in 2009, founder Paul Alexander, affectionately known to Dogpawfile members as “Uncle Paul,” remarked: “We wanted Dogpawfile to be a little slice of doggy heaven.” Dogpawfile, he now believes, has exceeded his expectations.
“I have personally become friends with pet lovers from many different countries,” Alexander commented. “And it always amazes me, just how similar we all are. The friendliness, love, and dedication for each other on Dogpawfile, I must say, is beyond any dream that I could have had for the site. The members truly are remarkable and caring.”
On-line friends and fellow Dogpawfile members Sandy Kunch and her dog, Saje, and Jodie Conley and her dog, Harbor, meet for the first time.
If you're crazy about dogs and other pets (Dogpawfile boasts avian members as well as felines), Dogpawfile is a fun place to visit. Members participate in frequent games and prize drawings, a voluntary holiday gift exchange, and have a daily opportunity to be named “Dog of the Day.” In 2010, Dogpawfile hosted its first on-line “doggy wedding” (a yorkie in Mississippi “married” a chihuahua in New Jersey), and nearly the entire on- line Dogpawfile community participated in the fun. Brevity aside, the true heart of Dogpawfile lies in its members, who support one another through life's hardships, illness and loss, whether it be canine or human, and through life's many joys, the birth of a child, or a puppy, or simply the dawning of a new day.
“I believe that Dogpawfile is more than just an ordinary social networking pet site,” Paul Alexander explained. “It's a place where members can make meaningful and long lasting relationships. It's also a safe, and friendly place to share our creative talents and show off our pets in their best light.”

He looks forward to the future of the site.
“I am very pleased with what has been achieved and look forward to being involved for many more years,” he said. “I would love to see Dogpawfile grow and grow; we call it spreading the Dogpawfile love! We are not a site with great numbers, but the quality of our members is second to none. I would to thank every member for really embracing what Dogpawfile is all about and for making it the great and fun place that it is.”
Happy Birthday, Dogpawfile!
