Atlantic Highlands, NJ — The public is invited to a “Night at the Races,” a fundraising event to be held 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at Windansea Restaurant in Highlands, where ten previously run horse races will be aired on a large-screen television with new race and horse names. Sponsors have come up with creative and fun race and horse names with no knowledge of which famous race will air and which horse will win. Proceeds will benefit the AHES band, of which approximately 90 percent of fourth- to sixth-graders participate.
The AHES band, viewed as popular by students and parents, is in need of musical instruments, maintenance and repairs for existing instruments, sheet music, stands, and other band-related equipment. Purchased are to be selected by vote via the AHES PTO.
Most of the horses have been sponsored: purchased for $40 and named by their owners, who are not required to attend the event. Some sponsorships, starting at $30, are still available. Various gift baskets will also be raffled off as entertainment between horse races.
The top sponsors helping form this event and gaining greater community awareness are The Hesse Companies, Schooners Fishery, On the Deck/Off the Hook, Windansea, Zino Personal Training, JGS Insurance, Skytop Landscaping, Mark Payne Agency - Farmers Insurance, and East Pointe Health and Fitness.
The deadline to participate as a sponsor (on various levels), purchase an ad for our advertisement book, or buy tickets for attendance is Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Entrance to the event is $40 per person and includes $10 betting bucks, chance to win ten door prizes, passed hors-d'oeurves, buffet, and DJ entertainment.
