HOLMDEL – Jon Gertner, author of The Idea Factory: Bell Labs and the Great Age of American Innovation, will present a discussion on the history of Bell Labs at the Holmdel Branch of the Monmouth County Library on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. The library branch is located in the former Bell Labs building at 101 Crawford’s Corner Rd.
Gertner, a native New Jerseyan now living in Maplewood, will also relate some stories about the innovations at Bell Labs and some of the unique events that happened here.
A frequent contributor to the New York Times magazine and other publications, Gertner’s writing focus on technology, climate change, and relationships among science, history, economics and social progress. He is currently working on a book, The Ice at the End of the World due out in the spring of next year, a book ab out Greenland, what the author claims I s the world’s biggest laboratory.
