Calling all sailors! For the 2rd year running, The Henry Hudson Tri-District Education Foundation will hold its Cardboard Boat Regatta. Build a boat out of cardboard and duct tape and race for the finish line! All area schools are invited to compete in this challenging [email protected] activity held each September. This year the regatta will be held on September 23rd at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club, 130 Center Ave, Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716. Construction will begin at 9AM and races will begin at 10AM.

The event is free for participants and spectators, but pre-registration is required at www.HHTDEF.ORG or for questions This email address is being protected from spambots. In addition, trophies are given according to age groups from kindergarten to adult for the fastest boat and the best decorated boat. Bring your own finished boat to the event or build your boat at the catamaran club. Cardboard will be available to pick up at the Catamaran Club on September 15th from 9AM to 11AM. Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Boats can only be made out of cardboard and duct tape. Please visit the website for other construction rules.

The mission of the Henry Hudson Tri-District Education Foundation, a registered 501C3, is to support innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math programs ([email protected]) and athletics in the Tri-District of Atlantic Highlands Elementary School, Highlands Elementary School and Henry Hudson Regional School. To meet these goals, the foundation relies on three main sources of funding: private donations, fundraising events and grants from philanthropic organizations. Since its inception in 2014, over $94,000 has been raised and disbursed in support of STEM/STEAM-related curricula in the Henry Hudson Tri-District. Both teachers and students have felt the positive impact on their education. These funds have been allocated to a variety of mission-focused projects, including pre-K and elementary school STEAM science lab equipment, podcast equipment, STEM activity tables, Chromebooks, 3Dprinters, Chromebooks, and new theater lighting for HHRS.

Upcoming events include an adults only Halloween Party to be held at Harborside Grill in Atlantic Highlands on Saturday, October 20th and a restaurant raffle featuring over $3000 in gift cards from local restaurants (two lucky winners).

The Foundation thanks its premium sponsors the Montecalvo & Bayshore Family of Companies and the Atlantic Highlands Front Porch Club and the many community members who attend and support their efforts.
