SHREWSBURY – Foldscoping, creating and using a paper microscope for scientific research, is being offered as a special program for teens this month at several branches of the Monmouth County Library.
Programs have already been held at the Ocean Township, West Long Branch branches and Headquarters library in Manalapan, and will be presented Monday, July 23, at the Marlboro Library, Wyncrest Dr. at 6:30 p.m. and Eastern Branch, Route 35, Shrewsbury, on July 31 at 6:30 p.m..
Designed to be inexpensive, durable and with an optical quality similar to conventional research microscopes, Foldscopes will be made by those attending the program and used to peer inside matter that can be examined under a microscope. Teens are encouraged to bring their smart phones and interesting items to inspect through the Foldscope
Reservation is necessary for both programs, and can be made by visiting the library website at www.monmouthcountylib.org. The site can also be visited for updated information on all programs offered at the Manalapan Headquarters Library or any of the Monmouth County library branches.
