Wednesday APRIL 4th at 7:30pm at Bahrs Landing Restaurant

You thought that North America's modern history started with the English Pilgrims in 1621?

Think again! The Dutch ship Halve Maen, captained by Henry Hudson (an Englishman!) explored the East Coast, including the Jersey Shore in 1609, a decade earlier. The Halve Maen was part of the 'network effect' linking ideas as well as trade between the Old World and the New.

Water was not a barrier but a carrier of ideas and trade and ships of that time were like the internet today.

Eduard van Breen, a Director of the New Netherland Museum in Albany and an expert on the impact of the Dutch in North America and the world, will explore the impact of the Halve Maen on North America and New Jersey

7:30pm: Coffee and cookies.  8:00pm: Presentation.   9:00pm: Close.

FREE event, ALL are welcome.
