DEAR LUCINDA, YOU'RE COMING HOME!
By Miranda Jean
(Amy Shore’s 11 year-old daughter)

11/16/03

Dear Lucinda,

I have been waiting so long and have been so patient! Now I cannot think about anything other than your coming home! Mom and Dad should be going to Guatemala on the 23rd (next Sunday). I am staying with my friend until Tuesday. On Tuesday I will stay with Grandma and Grandpa. On Wednesday, at 5 p.m., we will all go to the airport to pick you up!

I hope you like me!

Just for Wednesday, I think I will sleep with you on the cot and spend as much time with you as possible. I hate looking in your room now, because it is empty. The clock doesn’t make me feel any better, because time goes too slow to watch. I wish I had a fairy godparent so I could wish it were Wednesday right now. That is impossible, but it might happen.

I know now you don’t know who I am, but you will soon. I also know you won’t come running to hug me like I’d hoped, but I understand.

Do not stop believing! Lucinda Rubi Jean, the Shore-Jean family is coming! I love you!

Love,
Miranda Jean
Your brand new big sister!
